💡 Silver Rate FAQ

What is the silver rate in Pakistan today?

The live silver (chandi) rate is shown at the top of this page in Pakistani Rupees per tola, taken from the Rawalpindi/Islamabad sarafa market and updated in real time during market hours. Per-gram and per-kg conversions are calculated from the same live rate.

What is the difference between Silver 999 and Silver TT-Bar?

Silver 999 (local silver) is refined silver of about 99.9% purity sold by weight in the local market — the everyday chandi rate. A Silver TT-Bar is a standard cast bar with certified purity markings, preferred for investment; it trades at its own buy/sell rate, usually slightly different from loose local silver because of its certified form and resale convenience. Both live rates are shown on this page.

Why do silver rates differ slightly from city to city?

All Pakistani sarafa markets follow the same international silver price, but each city's bazaar (Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Peshawar) sets its own buy/sell spread based on local demand, supply and dealer margins. The differences are usually small — a few rupees per tola. PakGold shows the Rawalpindi/Islamabad sarafa rate, which the twin cities and much of northern Pakistan follow.

How is the per-gram and per-kg silver rate calculated?

1 tola = 11.664 grams. Divide the per-tola rate by 11.664 for one gram, and multiply the per-gram rate by 1000 for one kilogram (1 kg is about 85.73 tolas). The conversion table on this page does this automatically from the live rate.

What moves the silver rate in Pakistan?

Two things: the international silver price (USD per ounce), driven by industrial demand, gold's direction, the US dollar and interest rates — and the USD/PKR exchange rate, since local silver is priced from the dollar rate. When either moves, the sarafa chandi rate follows within minutes.

Is Zakat payable on silver?

Yes — if your silver holdings reach the nisab (612.36 grams, about 52.5 tolas) and complete one lunar year, Zakat of 2.5% of its market value is due. Use the live rate on this page or PakGold's Zakat Calculator to value your silver at today's rate.
